The general point-to-point inflation has increased 0.31 percentage point to 6.17 per cent in February compared to the last month.
The inflation rate is the highest in the last 17 months, according to a report of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) published on Monday.
The BBS released its February issue of the regular disclosure titled "Consumer Price Index (CPI), Inflation Rate and Wage Rate Index (WRI) in Bangladesh" indicating a sharp price hike of food items.
The food inflation stood at 6.22 per cent in February, which was 5.6 per cent in January. The non-food inflation was 6.10 per cent in February, which was 6.26 per cent in January.
