Kamal seeks more ADB assistance to face post-LDC graduation challenges

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal urged the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to provide more assistance to Bangladesh for addressing the challenges following transition from the least developed country (LDC) to a developing nation.

The minister made the urge when ADB Vice-President (Operations 1) Shixin Chen met him at a hotel in Dhaka, a press release said.

He also thanked the Philippines-based lender for assisting Bangladesh in socioeconomic development and overcoming the harmful effects of Covid-19.

Shixin Chen said ADB has been cooperating with Bangladesh from the very beginning to overcome the global pandemic.

He hoped that ADB will always remain by the side of Bangladesh in the future.

Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir, Finance Division Senior Secretary Abdur Rouf Talukder, Economic Relations Division Secretary Fatima Yasmin, ADB Deputy Director General Manmohan Parkash and Country Director for Bangladesh office Edimon Ginting, among others, were also present at the meeting.
