Malaysian businesses can benefit from Bangladeshi market: BMCCI

The Businesses from Malaysia can benefit from exploring the Bangladeshi market, Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) President Syed Almas Kabir said during an online discussion on enhancing Bangladesh-Malaysia business relations.

The discussion took place in conjunction with the 6th Showcase Malaysia 2023 in Dhaka organized by Malaysian South-South Association (MASSA) on Monday. 

Syed Moinuddin Ahmed, Treasurer of BMCCI and Member of the 6th Showcase Organizing Committee presented a keynote paper titled “Trade and Business Opportunities in Bangladesh” at the occasion.

Ahmed highlighted Bangladesh's remarkable development over the past 50 years and its ambitious target of becoming a developed country by 2041. He shared insights on the potential sectors for investment in Bangladesh and emphasized the country's large consumer market.

Ahmed also highlighted the significance of Bangladesh's youthful working population, which has made it an attractive destination for foreign investments.

Executive Secretary Ng Su Fun moderated the discussion.

During the event, Syed Almas Kabir delivered an audio-visual briefing on the upcoming 6th Showcase Malaysia 2023. Kabir described Bangladesh as a prime location for new investments and stressed the significant role of the industry in enhancing the geo-economic power of the Southeast Asia region.

He invited the audience to participate in the grand event, scheduled to be held from August 31 to September 2, 2023, at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon in Dhaka.

The showcase will feature top-quality Malaysian products and services across various sectors. By participating in the event, Malaysian businesses will have the opportunity to network with their Bangladeshi counterparts, explore potential trade and investment avenues, and gain a deeper understanding of the Bangladeshi market. Promoting Showcase Malaysia at the meeting were BMCCI's Senior Vice President Shabbir Ahmed Khan and Secretary General Motaher Hoshan Khan.

Prominent figures such as Datuk Merlyn Kasimir from MASSA, Chuan Yu Fan from See Hau Global Sdn Bhd, Calvin Ng and Jerome Ham from Industrial Concrete Products Sdn Bhd, Ong Kian Yew from PIKOM, and Susie Tamin and Badrul Hisham Ibrahim from MIMOS were also present at the meeting.

The discussion provides valuable insights into the business landscape in Bangladesh and highlights the advantages of investing in the country.
