Bangladesh witnessed year-on-year export earnings growth in May after two consecutive months of negative growth, which helped to achieve $50 billion earnings in the first 11 months of this fiscal year despite the ongoing global economic crisis.

According to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), the country earned $4.85 billion this May, which is nearly $1 billion higher when compared to the same month of last year, and 26.61 per cent year-on-year growth, though the figure is 5.29 per cent lower than May target.

During the first 11 months of this 2022-23 fiscal year, the sector earned $50.53 billion, posted a 7.11 per cent year-on-year growth, according to the EPB.

The data shows that during the period, apparel sector earned $42.63 billion, posted a 10.67 per cent year-on-year growth, and 0.76 per cent higher than target.
