State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain on Monday said now the country has 3,55,854 vacant posts in different government offices.
"Now some 3,55,854 posts remain vacant under all the ministries, directorate and field administration," he said.
The state minister said this while responding to a star-marked question raised by treasury bench lawmaker Kazim Uddin Ahmed of Mymensingh-11 during the question-answer session which was tabled at the Jatiya Sangsad with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
Fulfilling the vacant post is an ongoing process, Farhad said, adding that the posts remain vacant in general due to regular retirement and the creation of new posts.
But the government immediately could not fill up the existing vacant posts due to an embargo to some extent imposed by the court, he said.
Even the government, as per the rules, always keeps reserve 10 per cent posts to manage the surplus employees, the state minister added.
To fill up the vacant posts, he said the recruitment process is now being underway by the respective ministries, divisions and departments.
