RCC announces Tk1,015.35cr proposed budget for FY23-24

Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has announced a proposed budget worth around Taka 1,015.35 crore for 2023-2024 fiscal year.

RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton formally announced the annual budget at a press conference at Nagar Bhaban here this noon saying the proposed budget is totally a pro-development one.

Giving the overview of the ongoing and proposed development projects of the corporation, he stated that development works worth about Taka 3040.77 crore will be implemented during the 2023-2024 financial year.

Mayor Liton said the proposed budget for the 2022-23 FY was around Taka 1,007.69 crore, which has been revised to Taka 618.11 crore.

At the press conference, the mayor said four major projects on infrastructure developments were implemented at a cost of Taka 921.10 crore in the city during the last couple of years.

He told the press conference that the city corporation has been implementing a mega project involving around Taka 2,931.62 crore for infrastructural development in the city.
"We have also planned three other need-based projects of around Taka 109.47 crore for development of the city," he added.

Mayor Liton said the city corporation has been implementing various programmes to bring a qualitative change, particularly in the field of infrastructural development and environmental elevation in the metropolitan city.

He said they have adopted a Taka 1,209.13-crore project for the conservation and development of the city's natural water bodies, while another Taka 1,465.18-crore project for modernizing the waste management.

Apart from this, they will develop the Hazrat Shah Makhdum Ruposh (R) Dargah Sharif with an estimated cost of Taka 24.84 crore, besides constructing the mausoleum of Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman at a cost of Taka 30.77 crore.

Panel mayors, councillors and the officials concerned were present at the press conference.
