Remittance rises 4.5% in January

Remittance has increased slightly by 4.5 per cent to $1.7 billion in January over the earnings of December 2021, according to latest data released by Bangladesh Bank.

However, remittance inflow has declined by 15 per cent year-on-year in the last month.

During the July-January period of the current fiscal year, Bangladeshi expatriates sent $11.94 billion, down from $14.9 billion in the same period a year ago.

The data also said expatriates sent $1.63 billion in the previous month.
