Revenue collection witnesses 13.06% growth in July-Nov

The revenue collection by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) witnessed a healthy growth of 13.06 per cent in the first five months (July-November) of the current fiscal year (FY23), fetching Tk 1,15,620.77 crore.

According to NBR, the revenue collection during the five-month period from customs totalled Tk 38,060 crore, from VAT Tk 44,183.83 crore, and from income tax and travel tax Tk 33,376.94 crore.

The revenue collection by the revenue board during the July-November period of the last fiscal year (FY22) was Tk 1,02,264.82 crore.

Data from the NBR also showed that revenue collection from customs increased by 12.54 per cent during this July-November period, as the revenue collection from the sector was Tk 33,819.06 crore in July-November last year.

Besides, the revenue collection from VAT in this July-November saw a 16.18 per cent growth, as Tk 38,030.64 crore were collected from VAT in July-November last year.

Meanwhile, the revenue collection from income tax witnessed a growth of 9.74 per cent in this fiscal’s July-November period, as the collection from the sector during the same period of the last fiscal year was Tk 30,415.12 crore.

The NBR earlier set a target of realising Tk 3.70 lakh crore as revenue in the current fiscal year (FY23).
