The government has withdrawn import duty on rice while slashed 5 per cent duty in case of importing diesel.
The Internal Resources Division under the Ministry of Finance issued separate gazette notifications regarding the matters on Sunday.
The orders will come into effect immediately and remain in force till December 31.
According to the fresh orders, the regulatory duty on rice has been cut from 25 per cent to 5 per cent.
Besides, the government slashed the duty on diesel import from 10 per cent to 5 per cent and withdrew the existing 5 per cent advance duty.
