Ananta Garments & Sportswear Ltd gets LEED platinum certification

Ananta Garments Ltd & Ananta Sportswear Ltd, a readymade garment factory, has recently been awarded this year’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by the US green building council (USGBC).

Ananta Garments & Sportswear Ltd got the platinum certification with 89 out of 100 score which is the highest in Bangladesh, according to USGBC.

With this, Bangladesh has 188 LEED-certified readymade garment factories which is a record in the world.

According to USGBC data, currently in Bangladesh, there are 64 platinum categories, 110 gold categories, 10 silver categories and 4 green-certified readymade garments factories.

In May 2012, Bangladesh's Vintage Denim Studio was recognised as the first LEED platinum-certified factory in the world. The top seven green factories in the world are in Bangladesh.

LEED is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. Available for virtually all building types, LEED provides a framework for healthy, highly efficient, and cost-saving green buildings.
