BGAPMEA seeks reduction of complexity in exports, imports

Bangladesh Garments Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) on Wednesday sought different policy supports from the Customs Bond Commissionerate (CBC) for an easy procedure in exports and imports.

The association made the call during a meeting with the commissioner and the higher customs officials at CBC’s Dhaka south office, said a press release.

BGAPMEA urged CBC for a single rule for all customs issues including the availability of imported goods for accessories and packaging of bonded companies situated inside and outside the EPZs.

The association also sought a reduction of complexity in releasing imported starch at ports.

A team led by the acting president of the association Mohammad Belal handed over a list of proposals to the customs officials at the meeting.

Meanwhile, the commissioner and customs officials ensured the association considered the proposals following the customs rules.

The president and general secretary of Burton Manufacturing and Exporting Association were also present at the meeting as they were facing the same hitches.

Besides, BGAPMEA also sent a letter to the National Board of Revenue’s members (Customs Export, Bond and IT) aiming to get quick solutions to difficulties in this sector.
