The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industries (FBCCI) President, Md Jashim Uddin, hoped to transform the apex trade body into a smart one which would play a pivotal role in increasing the country’s exports to an impressive $300 billion by 2041.

This ambitious plan was revealed during his speech at the ‘FBCCI Members Night 2023,’ held at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka.

Highlighting the efforts made during his tenure, Jashim Uddin emphasised the importance of modernising FBCCI and making it more dynamic.

One significant achievement was the establishment of an Innovation Center, which would serve as a cornerstone in the country’s journey towards becoming a Smart Bangladesh, he said.

Looking to the future, the FBCCI President urged the next board to take initiatives in exploring new markets, with a special focus on India and China.

He believed that diversifying product offerings and exploring global markets for products like leather and textiles would be crucial in achieving the ambitious export target.

Jashim Uddin also stressed the need for more seminars and summits to promote the country’s products
and explore untapped markets.

He laid emphasis on compliance to ensure sustainable economic development. During his tenure, 550 factories were inspected, and 126 of them were identified as posing risks that needed to be addressed.

The event also saw the inauguration of FBCCI’s new website, which aimed to provide a centralised platform for relevant data. Moreover, FBCCI unveiled the New Year Book 2022-23, offering a comprehensive overview of the board’s year-long activities and the outcomes of various Standing Committee meetings.

Former president of FBCCI Mahbubur Rahman, Kazi Akram Uddin, and former senior vice president Mohammad Ali, Monowara Hakim Ali, Current Senior Vice President Mostofa Azad Chowdhury Babu, Vice president MA Momen, Md Amin Helaly, Habib Ullah Dawn, Razzak Khan Raj, business leaders and dignitaries were also present at the programme.
