The price of bottled soybean oil has increased by Tk 12 to Tk 190 per litre, and the price of packaged sugar climbed by Tk 13 to Tk 108 per kg.
The new prices are effective from Thursday.
Bangladesh Tariff Commission member Abu Raihan Al Biruni confirmed the new price of sugar and the Ministry of Commerce confirmed the price of oil.
On Wednesday, Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vanaspati Manufacturers Association, the association of owners of edible oil refining and marketing companies, informed the Commerce Ministry about the hike in price of soybean oil.
On the same day, Bangladesh Sugar Refiners Association, the organization of owners of sugar refiners, also decided to increase the price of sugar.
Earlier, the leaders of both organizations held several meetings with the Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission regarding the issue of price hikes.
