Prime Minister's Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman said that the dollar crisis will end soon as the prime minister has issued multiple directives to overcome the crisis.

In response to a question from journalists, Salman said this after a meeting held at the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) building in the capital’s Agargaon area on Monday.

Salman F Rahman also said, “Numerous measures are underway to enhance export growth amid a substantial decrease in imports. Despite the decline in imports, there remains persistent pressure on the currency.”

“The prime minister has issued multiple directives aimed at increasing exports, emphasising the need for diversification. Additionally, a recent legislation permits expatriates to maintain their dollar holdings in foreign bank accounts,” he added.

In response to another question about the rise in inflation, Salman F Rahman said, "One of the reasons for the increase in inflation is the rise in the prices of goods in the international market.

“Also, the prices of some products in the country's market have increased unreasonably. In these cases, the government has already reduced the prices somewhat. Finance and commerce ministries are working with other ministries on the issue. We hope that the commodity prices will come under control soon,” he said.
