Bangladesh getting ready for 5G

A TBP report published yesterday– quoting a recent study stated that harnessing the benefits of Fifth Generation (5G) network technology can help Bangladesh’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rise further by up to .46 per cent by 2035.

Titled “Future Value of Mobile in Emerging Markets,” the report adds that with regulatory and government support, fifteen countries could benefit from GDP growth between 0.3 and 0.46 per cent through 2035, with an estimated three-to-seven-fold cost-to-benefit ratio.

The world is in the midst of the Fourth Industrial revolution. And it is essential for Bangladesh to be relevant in this revolution. 5G’s overarching impact beyond voice and data has made it a must-have tool to keep Bangladesh relevant in the 4th Industrial Revolution. 5G will result in digital innovations across the industries. Things like Cloud, IoT (Internet of Things), Augmented Reality and AI-assisted technology will change the face of productions forever in the industries and increase the efficiency of handling goods manifolds. The scope of error will get reduced to a great extent.

5G technology will change the pattern of connectivity and industry applications in the long run. This is the right time for Bangladesh to analyze the greater implications of this technology as we are going through digital transformation. At a time when the whole world is getting more and more reliant on technological innovations, 5G could herald the beginning of a new era defined by cutting-edge technologies and open new horizons.

Experts believe that 5G will be transformative, fuelling innovation across every industry and every aspect of our lives. As Bangladesh rolls out 5G, it is crucial to understand the significance of this advanced technology and the implications 5G is likely to have for the agriculture, industries and businesses.

When 4G first arrived in Bangladesh, many were skeptical of this phenomenon. Today, everyone is reaping its benefits. We believe that 5G will also be embraced wholeheartedly. 5G is not only important for communication technology, but is more important for innovative technology. It is 100 times faster than 4G, processing 1 GB of bandwidth within a few seconds.

G has the potential to benefit everything from entertainment, gaming, education, and public safety. 5G enables very large numbers of IoT devices to communicate with one another and with central decision-makers. The technology is designed to extend the scope of mobile technology beyond the capacities of 4G. Experts believe that 5G will be transformative, fueling innovation across every industry and every aspect of our lives.

As Bangladesh is entering the 5G era, it is crucial to understand the significance of this advanced technology and the implications 5G is likely to have for agriculture, industries, and businesses. Bangladesh has to tap the opportunities provided by the fourth industrial revolution (4IR). Intelligent connectivity, enabled by 5G, will be the catalyst for the socio-economic growth that the 4IR could bring. 5G is the fundamental platform for the 4IR. High data rates, ultra-reliable transmission, and extremely low latencies will allow significant increases in efficiency and flexibility in industrial added value. According to international media reports, early adopters of 5G in industrial settings are singing praises about their transition.

5G could really turn into a gamechanger for a developing country like Bangladesh. However, to obtain the full benefits of this technology, Bangladesh needs to formulate a concrete plan. Rolling out this technology on a trial basis is not enough, rather we must devise a proper plan about how to gradually spread this network throughout the country so that the citizens can access 5G and enjoy the benefits. To do so, we need proper infrastructural facilities including higher spectrum allocation to ensure Quality of Services.
