108 contenders for each JU seat

A staggering 108 young contenders will vie for each Jahangirnagar University (JU) seat, as the institution received 1,97,359 applications for this year’s admission test.

Member secretary of the university's Central Admission Management Committee and Deputy Registrar (Education) Syed Mohammad Ali Reza confirmed the matter on Thursday.

JU online application period, which started on January 14 for academic year 2023-24, ended on Wednesday.

D-unit, Faculty of Biology received the highest number of applications for the academic year 2023-24 with 69,281 applicants applying for 310 available seats, according to the information of the admission test committee.

For A-unit, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics and Institute of Information Technology, 50,312 applications have been received against 446 seats and B-unit, Faculty of Sociology and Law, received a total of 17,654 applications against 386 seats.

Apart from this, 39,738 people have applied for 388 seats in C-Unit, Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Institute of Contemporary Literature and Culture. 4,210 applications have been received against 64 seats in C1-Unit, Drama and Theatre Department and Fine Arts Department.

The Faculty of Business Studies in E-Unit has received 12,645 applications against 200 seats. The Institute of Business Administration (IBA-JU) has received 3,519 applications.

The university has not yet announced the date for the admission test.
