16th annual senate meeting held at BUP

The 16th Annual Senate Meeting of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) has been held at the university’s Bijoy Auditorium. BUP Vice Chancellor and Senate Chairman Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam, BSP, ndc, afwc, psc, MPhil, PhD presided over the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, BUP Vice Chancellor and Senate Chairman Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam thanked the outgoing members, and welcomed the newly appointed members, reads a press release issued Monday.

Later, BUP Treasurer Air Cdre Md Shafiqul Islam, ndc, fawc, psc, GD(P) put forward the revised FY24 fiscal year budget amounting to Tk 129.7 crore, and announced a Tk 132.93 crore budget for FY25 that was unanimously approved by the Senate Members.

Besides, the 16th Annual Report was presented in the Senate Meeting which was also unanimously approved by the Senate Members. BUP Registrar ABM Faisal Baten, ndc, psc conducted the meeting.

At the beginning of his speech, BUP Vice Chancellor and Senate Chairman Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam said, “The creation of new knowledge, expansion of education, various infrastructural developments and other multifaceted activities are ongoing in BUP.”

BUP has already formulated an “Academic Strategic Plan 2023-2050” and its implementation will assist in achieving its success at the national and international level.

He added that various Co-Curricular and Extracurricular Activities are conducted through 27 clubs of BUP to develop the talent of the students which will sharpen their creativity.

Besides, he assured that BUP emphasises on inculcating moral values and awakening patriotism among the new generation.

He specifically mentioned that BUP Research Center is carrying out large-scale research activities, in addition to the publication of 5 research journals, with the objective of disseminating research-based knowledge to everyone with utmost importance to BUP research.

The BUP vice-chancellor also informed about the activities of the Office of International Affairs which aimed at highlighting the university in the international arena in higher education, admission of foreign students and introducing BUP to the researchers and teachers of foreign universities.

The vice-chancellor informed everyone that at present BUP admission process including application, registration, and final admission, is fully automated.

He also informed that evaluation of Faculty Members is being conducted through Students Evaluation System in all the courses which are also bridging the gap between teachers and students.

Among the Senate Members, notably Major (Retd) Rafiqul Islam (Bir Uttam), MP; Mohammad Abdur Razzaque, MP; Nurul Islam Nahid, MP; Md Shahriar Alam, MP; Major General (Retd) Salahuddin Miazi, MP; secretaries from different ministries, senior officials from Bangladesh Armed Force, and BUP were present at the meeting among others.
