Primary and Mass Education Ministry is consulting field officials and teachers on how to reopen 25% primary schools amid the coronavirus pandemic as educational institutions remained closed for more than five months.
In divisional level, there are recommendations to reopen some primary schools considering the gravity of the coronavirus situation in those particular areas.
Earlier, the cabinet division suggested the respective authorities to draw up a plan on how to reopen educational institutions in the country.
After the directives from the cabinet division, the Primary and Mass Education Ministry started consultation with filed level officers and teachers and they have suggested to allow 25% of the primary schools to go back to business.
Primary and Mass Education Ministry expected to lay out a plan in this regard in September 27.
Talking to The Business Post on Tuesday, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md. Zakir Hossen said, "We are taking recommendations from field officials and stakeholders from districts and many suggested to allow 25% schools to reopen for schooling."
"A meeting will be held on 27 September to decide on the action plan on how to reopen the schools," he added.
"We have already instructed the teachers to make the school neat and clean. Decision to reopen primary schools will be made upon discussion with the experts," he continued.
Ministry officials said, students of town and city areas are privileged to take part in classes conducted on TV, Radio and online platform but many of the students living in countryside are deprived from this opportunity because of lack of TV, Radio, internet and gadgets for connecting thereto.
Considering this difficulty, there is an opinion from field level to reopen 25% of the rural schools in districts.
