3-day fire safety and civil defence training for AUST personnel

The Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) is pleased to announce a specialised three-day safety training programme aimed at enhancing the emergency response capabilities of its staff and ensuring a safer campus environment. 

The training will take place from 15 to 17 October 2024 at the Fire Service and Civil Defence Training Complex located in Mirpur-10, Dhaka, reads a press release. 

A total of 50 selected AUST Wardens/Assistant Wardens of the Fire/Disaster Safety Team members from various departments of AUST will participate in this comprehensive program, which is designed to provide practical skills and knowledge in fire safety, disaster management, and emergency response. 

The initiative aligns with AUST's commitment to prioritising the safety and well-being of its campus community, equipping staff members to handle emergencies effectively and minimise potential risks.

The Vice-Chancellor of AUST, Prof Md Ashraful Hoque, inaugurated the event in the morning, marking the commencement of this important safety initiative.

Programme highlights

Day 1: Focus on fire safety, including fire classes, ignition principles, portable fire extinguishers, active and passive fire protection systems, and hands-on training in extinguishing techniques.

Day 2: Emphasis on search and rescue, practical application of rescue tools, stabilisation and transportation of victims, and advanced rescue techniques.

Day 3: Covering earthquake preparedness, pre-hospital care, and basic life support, and culminating with a final practical exercise, exam, and certificate distribution.

The program aims to foster essential safety skills, enhance preparedness, and ensure a safer campus environment for AUST. 

It will serve as a vital step toward strengthening the university's emergency response framework and readiness to tackle unforeseen situations effectively.
