Four engineering universities have joined hands with Walton to enrich the technical knowledge of their students and faculty members through conducting thesis, research and internship programmes.
Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), the mechanical engineering department of the Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) and the industrial and production engineering department of the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) signed a separate memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Walton.
IUT Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, head of RUET's industrial production and engineering department Professor Dr Md Mosharraf Hossain, head of KUET's mechanical engineering department Professor Dr Md Shahidul Islam, head of SUST's industrial and production engineering department Dr Mohammad Muhshin Aziz Khan and Walton Hi-Tech Industries Managing Director Engineer Golam Murshed inked the MoUs.
As per the MoUs, Walton and the universities will work together to foster facilities for the digitalisation of manufacturing in Bangladesh to develop advanced manufacturing facilities.
Also, they will conduct joint research on industrial problems as a part of the undergraduate and graduate thesis; triangular research for solving industry-related problems like productivity enhancement and quality assurance.
Walton and the universities will also organise national and international scientific and technical seminars, symposia and conferences; internship programmes for students, and develop training programmes upon mutual consultation and negotiation.
IUT's VC Dr Mohammad Rafiqul Islam said, "It is important for universities to have adequate research opportunities to harness their talents. If other private industries like Walton come forward, the talented students of our country will be able to give their best."
