The combined pass rate in this year’s Secondary School Certificate and equivalent examinations stands at 93.58 per cent, which was 82.87 per cent last year.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formally released the results through a videoconference at Ganabhaban in Dhaka in the morning.

More than 22 lakh candidates sat for this year’s examinations from 29,035 educational institutions under 3,679 centres.

The pass rate in nine general education boards is 94.08 per cent, madrasa board 93.22 per cent, and technical board 88.49 per cent.

Among the general education boards, Mymensingh recorded the highest pass rate – 97.52 per cent while Dhaka had a success rate of 93.15 per cent, Barishal 90.19 per cent, Chattogram 91.12 per cent, Sylhet 96.78 per cent, Jashore 93.09 per cent, Cumilla 96.27 per cent, Rajshahi 94.71 per cent, and Dinajpur 94.80 per cent.

Examinees can get the results from schools, the education board website http://www.educationboardresults.gov.bd, and also from the websites of respective education boards.

They can get their results through their mobile phones as well. To get the result through SMS, one will have to type “SSC/DAKHILfirst three letters of the boardroll number2021” and send it to 16222.

The examinations began on November 14 and concluded on November 23.

Generally, the examination is held in February each year, but the Covid-19 pandemic brought changes to the schedule this year.

The examinations were held with short syllabuses on three elective subjects on a group basis due to the pandemic.

Examinees, however, did not sit for tests in compulsory subjects like Bangla and English.

The duration of each exam was reduced to one and a half hours and there was no break between multiple choice questions and written tests.

The exams of science, commerce and humanities groups were held at different times to maintain social distance.

The prime minister also inaugurated the free textbook distribution programme at the same event.
