The Assistant Thana/Upazila Education Officers' Association (ATEOA) has demanded promotion to ninth grade from tenth grade to ensure quality primary education in the country.
It came up with the demand at a discussion on ensuring quality primary education to build smart Bangladesh held at the Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall of the National Museum on Saturday.
They also demanded 100 per cent promotion of their service instead of the existing 20 per cent.
ATEOA President MAS Rabiul Islam presided over the programme while its General Secretary Salauddin Ahmed Rumi moderated it.
Rabiul Islam said the Assistant Upazila Education Officers are highly connected with the pillars of “Smart Bangladesh.” They are working to build smart next generation.
“But the Assistant Upazila Education Officers are being deprived of their rights.”
Rabiul said the officers have the capacity to work more and change the whole primary education, but they need 100 per cent promotion to ninth grade.
