Canadian University of Bangladesh gets new VC

Professor Dr HM Jahirul Haque has been appointed vice-chancellor of the Canadian University of Bangladesh. 

President Md Abdul Hamid, also the chancellor of the university, appointed him to the post on April 21, the university said in a press release.

Prior to his appointment, Professor Jahirul Haque served as the senior advisor to the Board of Trustees of the university for almost one year.

Earlier, he served as the pro-vice-chancellor (2012-2017) and vice-chancellor (2017-2021) at University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB).

Professor Jahir also received the Award of Leadership Excellence from the Business and Applied Sciences Academy of North America (BASANA) in 2019, read the release. 

He obtained his PhD in engineering from one of the most renowned universities in Ukraine, Kharkiv State Technical University of Radio Electronics in 2001.

He completed his graduation leading to post-graduation degree from the Cherkasy State Technological University on Masters of Technical Sciences (System Engineering) in 1995. He also started his teaching career there.

Professor Jahir has a strong track record in academic and administration alongside a reputation for being an innovative, efficient and visionary leader.

He has numerous publications on computer and engineering knowledge, published in both national and internationally recognised journals. His contribution to education and research is globally well recognised.
