Comilla University closes halls following BCL fighting

The authorities of Comilla University have shut down all activities of the university for an indefinite period following clashes between two factions of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).

The university administration took the decision at an emergency meeting held virtually on Sunday to bring the situation under control, according to a notice signed by Registrar (Acting) Md Amirul Haque.

“The halls will remain closed until further notice due to the prevailing situation at the university," stated the notification.

Male students have been instructed to leave the halls by 6:00am and female students by 9:00am on Monday. 

At the same time, all examinations have been postponed from October 10 to October 17, the notice reads.

Except for the personal transport of teachers, officials and employees, transport service for the students will remain suspended, the notice added.
