The government has postponed the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations of Sunday under five education boards due to the very severe cyclonic storm Mocha which is heading towards the coastal areas.

The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee gave this directive in an office order signed by its Chairman Prof Tapan Kumar Sarkar on Friday.

The SSC and equivalent exams under three general boards — Chattogram, Cumilla, and Barishal, and Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board and Bangladesh Technical Education Board have been postponed, read the office order.

The revised schedule of the postponed examinations will be announced later, it reads.

However, examinations of other boards will be held as per the schedule.

The very severe weather system over the Bay of Bengal is likely to hit Bangladesh and Myanmar coasts on Sunday.
