The University of Dhaka and Camões, Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua of Portugal virtually signed a cooperation agreement on Wednesday to establish academic links between the two institutions.
Under the signed protocol, the Institute of Modern Language of the University of Dhaka and Camões will help to introduce Portuguese language courses and studies in Dhaka University, awarding scholarships to Portuguese language teachers and students, in the promotion of cultural and scientific activities, said a press release.
At a ceremony held simultaneously between the two institutions, DU Treasurer Prof Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed in Dhaka and Camões institute Governing Board President Ambassador João Ribeiro de Almeida in Lisbon signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.
On the Lisbon side of the ceremony, Bangladesh Ambassador to Portugal Tarik Ahsan, Camões Institute Programming, Training and Certification Department Head Rui Vicente de Azevedo and Bangladesh Embassy First Secretary Abdullah Al Razi were also present.
Director of Institute of Modern Language (IML) Prof A B M Razaul Karim Faquire and Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh Ashiq Billah attended.
