Educational institutions to open if Covid infection drops below 5pc

Educational institutions will be allowed to open if coronavirus infection rate in the country falls below 5 per cent, said Mahbub Hossain, secretary of secondary and higher education division.

Any decision on opening universities, colleges and schools in phases will be taken later, he said on Wednesday.‎

Meanwhile, Bangladesh on Tuesday reported 235 new Covid related deaths and 15,776 cases.

‎‎The first infection of coronavirus was detected in the country on March 8 last year. Ten days later, on March 18, the health department reported its first death in the country.‎

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.
