Girls outshine boys again

Girls have once again outshone boys in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent exams, securing both a slightly higher pass rate and greater number of GPA-5 achievers.

The results revealed on Friday showed that out of 20,41,450 students, 8,44,736 girls passed while the number of boys who passed is 7,96,404.

The pass rate for female students is 81.88 per cent. Meanwhile, 78.87 per cent of male candidates have cleared the tests.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni announced the results at a press conference at the International Mother Language Institute at Segunbagicha in the capital.

Girls outperformed boys in terms of GPA-5 grade as well.

Out of 1,83,578 students who obtained GPA-5 in this year’s SSC and equivalent exams, 98,614 are female students and 84,964 are male.

Girls have consistently outperformed boys in the SSC and equivalent exams over the last six years, securing higher pass rates and numbers of GPA-5 achievers every time.

In nine general education boards, 7,06,375 girls have passed while the number of boys who passed the examinations is 6,16,071.

The pass rate of girls is 82.39 per cent while the pass rate of boys is 79.34 per cent. In cases of securing GPA-5, 88,245 girls have got GPA-5 while 70,975 boys have got GPA-5 in the nine general education boards.

Under madrasah board, 1,12,014 girls have passed while the number of boys who passed the examinations is 1,00,950. The pass rate of girls is 77.02 per cent while the pass rate of boys is 72.29 per cent. 3,025 girls have got GPA-5 while 3,188 boys have got GPA-5, which is higher than girls.

In the technical board results, 79,383 boys have passed while the number of girls who passed the examinations is 36,347. However, the pass rate of girls is 91.44 per cent while the pass rate of boys is 84.78 per cent. 10,801 boys have got GPA-5 while 7,344 girls have got GPA 5.
