Govt mulls 2-day weekly off in schools to save energy

The government is planning to introduce a two-day weekly holiday in educational institutions across the country to tackle the energy crisis, Education Minister Dipu Moni said on Friday.

“From the next year, all the educational institutions will enjoy two-day weekly off. We are considering if it can be implemented from now,” she said while addressing a discussion in Dhaka.

“The decision will be announced soon,” she added.

Meanwhile, the government has announced different weekly holidays for industrial areas to save electricity and ensure uninterrupted power supply to the factories across the country amid the ongoing energy crisis.

At the event, Dipu Moni told the journalists that the government has taken the bold decision on power and energy on time.

“If we do not practice austerity today, we will be in danger in the future,” she furthered.
