North South University’s Department of Marketing and International Business from the School of Business and Economics organised a session titled “Building a sustainable lifestyle brand in Bangladesh: Lessons for the Future Brand Managers” on Tuesday.

The event highlighted the growing importance of sustainable consumption in Bangladesh and its role in building successful brands.

The keynote speaker for the event was Mirajul Huq, a successful entrepreneur and North South University alumnus. He is the founder of Baah – a digital sustainable living brand that empowers women, and Krishti by Bagdoom – the first digital marketplace for women entrepreneurs and artisans in Bangladesh.

He shared his experiences and insights on integrating sustainable practices into businesses. Mirajul’s companies focus on empowering women, preserving cultural heritage, and minimising environmental impact, exemplifying successful business models that prioritise sustainability.

The session emphasised the unique position Bangladesh holds due to its rich craftsmanship, booming textiles, and environmentally conscious population looking for lucrative designs, making it a leader in sustainable lifestyle brands.

Following Mirajul’s speech, a Q&A session allowed the audience to engage with the industry expert and gain valuable knowledge.

The event concluded with closing remarks by Prof Dr Helal Ahammad, Dean of the School of Business and Economics of North South University. He emphasised the significance of recycling and the preservation of resources.

A crest was presented to Mirajul Huq as a token of appreciation, followed by a photo session with the guests.

The session at North South University served as a valuable platform for aspiring brand managers to learn about building successful and sustainable brands in Bangladesh.

The event highlighted the importance of conscious consumption and eco-friendly practices in creating a better future for Bangladesh.
