The government is considering allowing schools and colleges to hold classes one day a week initially after reopening, Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel has said.
However, this plan is yet to be decided and may change, he said after an event at Chattogram Medical College Hospital on Saturday.
Earlier on Friday, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni said the government was preparing to reopen schools and colleges from September 12 as directed by the Prime Minister.
She also mentioned that the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations would be held in November this year, while the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations would take place in December.
On March 17, 2020, the government closed all educational institutions to contain the spread of Covid-19 after detecting the first virus case on March 8.
The closure was repeatedly extended several times during the pandemic, although the government allowed reopening of businesses time and again due to surges in Covid infections.
On August 31, the government finally extended the education vacation till September 11.
