The government is going to introduce single shift in all the primary schools across the country from January next year.

“We are planning to bring all the primary schools in one shift. Hopefully, it will come into effect from January next year,” Aminul Islam Khan, senior secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, told a briefing at the secretariat in Dhaka on Sunday.

“If the school runs in single shift, we will be able to teach for five hours instead of three hours. Thus, no teacher will lose his/her job and no more schools will be closed as well,” he added.

There are 65,600 schools in the country. Of those 10,915 conduct educational activities in two shifts.
