ULAB School of Business organised the Bookkeeper Training Certificate Awarding Ceremony at its campus in the capital's Mohammadpur on Thursday.
Some of 21 students from the BBA program received certificates after attending multiple training sessions on the BookKeeper App followed by a test, said a press release.
This is the first batch to receive this training and certificate from Bangladesh.
The certificate recipients will be providing training on the app to different SME business owners, read the release.
In the ceremony, ULAB Vice-Chancellor Prof Imran Rahman urged students to participate in training like these which complement the text-based knowledge and enrich the competency of a fresh graduate.
Such training also opens avenues to part-time jobs and internships, he stated.
The Bookkeeper App is a basic accounting app developed by Aspen Capital Solutions LLC for SMEs to aid them by recording their daily business transactions and generating basic financial statements.
This app is believed to empower SME business owners by allowing them access to enhanced financial information and enabling them to secure loans from financial institutions.
Razi Amin, managing partner, Aspen Capital Solutions LLC; Nusrat Mirza, director, Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Professor Shamsad Mortuza; pro-vice-chancellor, ULAB; Professor Milan Kumar Bhattacharjee, treasurer, ULAB; Assistant Professor AF Wazir Ahmad, director of BBA Program, ULAB, were present to grace the occasion.
Shafayat Hossain Chowdhury, senior lecturer, School of Business, ULAB coordinated the sessions from ULAB's end.
