‎Universities to reopen after Sept 27

All universities in the country will reopen this month after Covid vaccine registration process for students is completed by September 27.

The decision was taken on Tuesday at a meeting among Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, the University Grants Commission (UGC) and vice-chancellors of the universities.

‎MA Khair, information and public relations officer of the education ministry, said once vaccine registration of all students is complete, universities and their residential halls will be opened with the approval of the academic council.

Moreover, if universities decide to open residential halls, health centres must be set up in their premises for vaccinating students, he added.

Besides, students without National Identity Cards would have to register for vaccine shots with birth certificate numbers, which must be sent to the UGC before reopening the institutions, he further said.

Earlier, schools and colleges across the country reopened from September 12 and medical colleges the next day.
