The much-awaited "Ganga-Jamuna Cultural Festival 2023" is set to captivate audiences from October 6 to October 17 at the three separate venues of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) and Mahila Samity in the capital.
The festival will feature an impressive participation of 145 troupes from both Bangladesh and India, encompassing various art forms including drama, dance, recitation, music, and more. An estimated 4000 artists are expected to grace the event, making it a grand celebration of cultural diversity and artistic expression.
Renowned cultural personality Ramendu Majumdar will inaugurate the 12-day festival at the National Theatre Hall of BSA on October 6, while State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid will be present as chief guest. Presided over by Sommilito Sangskritik Jote President Golam Kuddus, distinguished guests including cultural figure Asaduzzaman Noor, Mamunur Rashid and BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky will deliver speeches.
Theatre enthusiasts can look forward to a line-up of highly anticipated stage productions on the first day of the festival. Nagorik Natya Sampradaya will stage "Ontore Bahire Chitrangada", while Batighor will showcase "Bhogoban Paliye Gechhe." Ajker Projonmo will captivate audiences with "Odhora Madhuri" from India, and Onik theatre troupe will charm viewers with "Bhalobasha" also from India, among other engaging performances.
The festival pays homage to the profound cultural heritage that has endured for thousands of years in the backdrop of the heroic Bangladesh Liberation War. Cultural pioneers have preserved and strengthened this invaluable legacy amid the struggles of the nation's fight for independence. The festival aims to bring together a vast congregation, uniting cultural workers who have dedicated themselves to the stage, bringing music, dance, recitation, drama, and theatrical performances.
Cultural enthusiasts can catch the live performances from 4pm to 6:30pm daily, and the stage dramas will commence at 7pm. For the first time, tickets for stage dramas will be available online at www.bdeticket.com. Additionally, tickets can be purchased at the hall counters from 4:00pm onwards.
