Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) will honour twenty individuals with Shilpakala Padak 2021 and 2022 for their contribution to different fields. Each awardee will receive Tk 1,00,000, a medal and a certificate.
Subject to the kind permission of the President and formally fixing the date, the Shilpakala Padak awarding ceremony will be organised soon, BSA stated.
The recipients of Silpakala Padak 2021 are, namely Md Nuruzzaman in instrumental music category, Sharmin Hossain in dance, Sadi Muhammad in vocal, Biren Shome in fine arts, Professor Abdus Selim in dramatics, Md Nohir Uddin in folklore, Kazi Modina in recitation, Dr Motin Rahman in film and cultural institution Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammilan Parishad in creative cultural organisation.
The recipients of Silpakala Padak 2022 are Fuad Nasser in instrumental music category, Sazu Ahmed in dance, Elen Mallick in vocal, Professor Alok Ray in fine arts, Khairul Alam Sobuj in dramatics, Sunil Karmakar in folklore, Rafiqul Islam in photography, Mir Barkat Rahman in recitation, Aruna Biswas in film and Dr. Safiuddin Ahmed in creative cultural researcher.
BSA introduced the ‘Shilpakala Padak’ in 2013 to honour artistes of the cultural arena and their success. However, the award could not be conferred on the recipients in 2019 and the ceremony could not take place in 2020 due to the global pandemic of Covid-19.
