In anticipation of the upcoming Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association (BFAA) election, a significant number of nomination forms have been sold, with 79 forms purchased for 21 available posts.

This revelation came from the BFAA election commission chairman, Khorshed Alam Khosru, who disclosed the figures following the conclusion of the nomination form sale period.

According to Khosru, there was a notable surge in sales on the last day, with 44 nomination forms sold, adding to the 35 sold on the initial day. Khosru attributed this heightened interest to the involvement of celebrities in the election, emphasising the commission's commitment to ensuring a transparent and inclusive electoral process.

Two prominent panels have emerged for the election, with Misa Sawdagar and Monowar Hossain Dipjol leading one panel, and Mahmud Koli and Nipun Akhter heading another. Expressing optimism, Sawdagar stated that their panel comprises both senior and young film artistes, positioning them well for success.

Dipjol highlighted their dedication to the association and the film industry, aiming to build on their past contributions. Additionally, independent candidates such as actor Srabon Shah and actress Nasrin have thrown their hats into the ring, vying for various positions within the association.

The deadline for submission of nomination forms is set for April 2, with the primary list of candidates scheduled for release on April 3, followed by the final list on April 7. The election itself is slated for April 19, spanning from 9am to 5pm, with a one-hour break from 1pm to 2pm.
