Ekushey Padak-winning actor and playwright Masum Aziz passed away on Monday at a private hospital in Dhaka.
Masum, who had been suffering from cardiac-related ailments, breathed his last at the hospital this afternoon, said Faisal Hasan, senior information officer of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
He was admitted to Square Hospitals Ltd with cardiac problems on October 3 and put on life support later as his condition deteriorated on Thursday morning.

Masum Aziz, a veteran performer of stage and TV dramas, was suffering from cardiac problems for a long time along with cancer.
In 2017, he was diagnosed with four blocks in his heart and underwent surgery.
Aziz started his journey as an actor in 1972. He performed on stage and television and in film.
While studying at University of Chittagong, he made his acting debut in theatre.
In 1985, he debuted in TV drama. Masum starred in more than 400 TV dramas and notable films.
He was honoured with the National Film Award for his performance in ‘Ghani’ in 2006.
Apart from this, he was awarded the Ekushey Padak, the country's second-highest civilian award, this year for his contribution to acting.
