Actor Waliul Haq Rumi passes away

Actor Waliul Haq Rumi, known for his attractive performances in various dramas, has passed away after battling against cancer for a long time. He breathed his last in the early hours on Monday while undergoing treatment at the hospital in Dhaka.

The actor had been suffering from colon cancer for a long time. He was taken to India’s Chennai for initial treatment. Later, he was brought back to the country and admitted to the capital’s Square Hospital, according to family sources.

Actors like Ziaul Faruq Apurba and Shahnaz Khushi paid tribute to him on social media.

Waliul Haq Rumi hailed from Barisal. He will be laid to rest there, beside his mother's grave. He is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.

Waliul Haq Rumi made his acting debut with BTV's popular drama “Kon Kanoner Phool”. Alongside television, he has also acted in movies. In 2009, he made his silver screen debut with the film "Doriaparer Douloti".

Amongst his notable dramas are "Suggestion Selim", "Bokashoka Tinjon", "Makeup Man", "Dhaka to Barishal", "Dhaka Metro Love", "Bap Beta Dourer Upor", "American Shaheb", "Journey by Bus", "Bakir Nam Faki", the "Jamoj", sequels, and "Comedy 420".

His latest drama 'Bakulpur' is currently airing on Deepto TV.
