AdFilm and content producers association announce indefinite strike

The Bangladesh Association of AdFilm and Content Producers (BAAcP) has launched an indefinite strike yesterday, demanding immediate action from advertising agencies and clients to address long-standing issues within the industry.

The strike, announced in a statement on social media, is aimed at pressing for the settlement of outstanding dues, improved payment structures, and the timely issuance of work orders. Despite on-going negotiations, BAAcP says that several critical concerns have remained unaddressed, threatening the sustainability of the industry.

One of the primary demands from BAAcP is the immediate payment of overdue balances that have accumulated over time. The association also wants a new payment structure in place where 75% of the agreed fees are paid up front, with the remaining 25% settled within 45 days of billing.

According to BAAcP, this model is crucial for maintaining cash flow and enabling production companies to meet their obligations.

The strike has garnered support from several other industry associations, including the Advertising & Filmmakers Association (ADFA), the Bangladesh Alliance of Cinematographers (BAC), the Post Productions Association of Bangladesh (PAB), and the Art Directors & Costume Designers Association of Bangladesh.

In a statement, BAAcP highlighted the broader context of the strike, aligning it with on-going national reforms.

“As the country undergoes significant changes, it is high time that our industry also sees the necessary reforms. We call upon all members to stand united in our effort to secure these essential rights and continue our advocacy until they are achieved,” the statement read.

The association called for solidarity among its members to ensure that these issues are resolved promptly.
