The 28th edition of the prestigious Busan International Film Festival commenced on October 4th, featuring the best of Asian cinema. Bangladesh's, "Agantuk", directed by Biplab Sarkar, took center stage in the main competition category.

For the second time, a Bangladeshi film secured a prime position in the main competition category at Busan. The lead roles in "Agantuk" were brilliantly portrayed by Bangladesh's renowned actresses Ferdausi Majumdar and Sahana Rahman Sumi.

Sumi disclosed that her upcoming film "Agantuk" will also be showcased during the festival on October 8 and 12.

Sumi expressed her excitement, "It's a momentous occasion for me. To have a film of mine presented at such a grand festival is truly humbling. I want to extend full credit to the producer and director of this film. It's been an immense privilege to act alongside the esteemed Ferdousi Majumdar, and I've learned a great deal from her."

Ferdousi shared, "I'm delighted with how 'Agantuk's story turned out, and that's why I chose to be a part of this film. Hearing that it will be showcased at a distinguished event like the Busan International Film Festival is truly heartening."

The Busan International Film Festival has attracted cinema enthusiasts, actors, directors, producers, and audiences from various countries worldwide. Sumi, reflecting on her experience, said, "I never imagined this festival would be so grand. I'm truly touched by the support of the audience."

Last year, "Agantuk" won the Prasab Lab DI and Movie Buff Appreciation Award for Best Film in the Viewing Room Recommends category at the Film Bazaar held in Goa, India. The film received funding from the Bangladesh government in 2019-2020 and underwent post-production during March-April 2022.
