Amber Heard, known for her role in “Aquaman”, is making her return to the big screen in the upcoming horror film “In the Fire”. This marks her first theatrical release after the defamation trial and divorce controversies with Johnny Depp.
The trailer promises a village horror movie mounted on a low budget. Amber plays the role of a psychiatrist in the period film, who visits a plantation to assess a disturbed boy named Martin. The villagers and the church in the region believe that Martin is possessed by the devil and rely on traditional cult rituals like exorcisms to cure him. However, Amber's character tries to convince the villagers that Martin is suffering from a disease and not demonic possession.
“In the Fire” directed by Conor Allyn and featuring Eduardo Noriega, Lorenzo McGovern Zaini, Sophie Amber, and Luca Calvani, is set to release on October 13. The film rated R, has been written by Conor Allyn, Pascal Borno, and Silvio Muraglia. It will be available in theatres and on digital platforms simultaneously on October 13. Amber, in a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, expressed her sense of privilege to be a part of the film. She is proud to be the lead in Conor Allyn's vision and feels fortunate to be working alongside an incredible cast who are as devoted and captivating as the roles they portray.
Amber recently lost a defamation trial in which she was accused of defaming her former spouse, Johnny Depp. In 2018, Amber wrote an op-ed for The Washington Post about surviving domestic violence without mentioning Depp by name, which led to Depp lodging a defamation case against her.
Amber will also star in the upcoming sequel to the DC movie Aquaman, titled Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, alongside Jason Momoa. The movie is set to hit theaters on December 20, 2023.
