Acclaimed Indian-Bengali singer, songwriter, and filmmaker Anjan Dutt mesmerised his fans in Dhaka with ‘Anjan Dutt Metropolis Volume-2’, at the Dhaka Arena, Purbachal, 300 feet Expressway on Saturday night.

Ahmed Hasan Sunny took the stage and performed the song ‘Amare Chao’ dedicating Odd Signature vocalist Piyal, who died in Narshingdi road crash in the morning.

Sunny then went on to sing his favorite songs one by one. On this day, he performed on stage for the first time the song 'Manush Ken e Rokom' from Mustafa Sarwar Farooqui's movie “Monogamy”. He then captivated the audience with the song ‘E Sohor Amake Deyni Kichhu, Tomake Chhara’. Then Anjan Dutt came on the stage with love and affection. The audience burst into cheers at the sight of him.

It was around 9 pm when Anjan Dutt came to the stage. Audiences greeted the artist with applause. Anjan Dutt first said that due to illness he will perform music seated in a wheelchair. He apologised for this. Whether Anjan Dutt sings sitting or standing does not matter to the audience. Everyone is eager to hear his voice. When the artist started to release his voice, the whole arena immediately hummed and everyone was singing along with Anjan.

Taking a break in between, Anjan Dutt sang his popular numbers including ' Mary Ann', 'Bela Bose', ‘Khader Dharer Railing Ta', 'Ranjana', ‘Ami Bristy Dekhechhi' and of course 'Mala'. Because the day was May 11, only the singer's fans knew that Mala's birthday was May 12. At the end of the song, Mala's birthday is celebrated by cutting the cake.

At around 11 pm, the Dhaka-based Bangladeshi band Kaaktaal took the stage. They told the story of their journey while singing 'Kichhu Nei Kichhu Nei’, 'Lashkata Ghore', and others.

Anjan Dutt has come to sing in Bangladesh several times before. He made his debut in the entertainment world in the early 80s, acted in many movies, and impressed the audience as a self-made filmmaker as well, in the West Bengal film industry.

As a musician, he is equally popular in both the Bengals and known for his remarkable songs including ‘Bela Bose’, ‘Ekdin Brishti te Bikele’, ‘Tumi Na Thakle’, ‘Mala’, ‘Ranjana’, ‘Tumi Ashbe Bole’ and more.

Arclight Events, in collaboration with Assen and Zirconium, organised the event 'Anjan Dutt Metropolis Volume-2’.
