The dynamic duo Farhan Akhtar and Rensil D'silva, the masterminds behind the sensational new web series 'Bambai Meri Jaan,' have emphatically stated that this is not another tale of feared underworld figures Dawood Ibrahim or Haji Mastan.

Instead, they unveil a riveting narrative set against the backdrop of Mumbai's enigmatic underworld, a fresh and fictional saga that is bound to leave audiences on the edge of their seats.

Farhan Akhtar, the visionary producer behind the show under his renowned Excel Entertainment banner, teamed up with creator Rensil D’silva and director Shujaat Saudagar to craft this thrilling experience.

When asked about the magnetic allure of crime dramas, Farhan Akhtar mused, "Intriguing for sure. We find it fascinating to understand what makes a mind behave criminally. That is the reason we feel like we want to watch it because we want to understand a person like that. We want to understand how that kind of mind works."

Addressing any misconceptions, show creator Rensil D’silva emphatically stated, "No it is not about Dawood or Haji. It might be something that seeped into the consciousness of the audience because of Hussain Zaidi's involvement in the show. But I can assure you, this show is totally fictional." Farhan Akhtar echoed this sentiment, affirming that 'Bambai Meri Jaan' is an entirely new creation, not a rehash of the familiar gangster tales.

Renowned journalist and author Hussain Zaidi, revered for his extensive coverage of the underworld, is credited for shaping the narrative of 'Bambai Meri Jaan.' His acclaimed books, including 'Class of 83' and 'Mafia Queens of Mumbai,' have previously inspired cinematic adaptations, according to Hindustan Times.

Overcoming formidable challenges, including the relentless pandemic disruptions, Farhan Akhtar reflected, "The big trouble (we overcame) was, of course, the pandemic. (It was a major roadblock) for us, as well as everyone else. That put us on hold twice. We had two lockdowns, then even when the lockdowns were eased, there were so many restrictions on shootings... Despite all those obstacles, I must credit the entire team for not giving up on the project."

The show stars the powerhouse talents Kay Kay Menon and Avinash Tiwary, leading the charge as an upright cop and the ambitious Dara, who aspires to rule Mumbai's underworld. Kritika Kamra also shines as Dara's sister Habiba, adding depth to the intricate storyline.
