‘Bangabandhu Utsab 2024’ kicks off in Dhaka

“Bangabandhu Utsab 2024,” a month-long celebration honouring the life and legacy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, commenced at the Bangla Academy’s Bhasha Shahid Muktomoncho in Dhaka on Saturday.

Organised by the Bangabandhu Abritti Porishod, the festival promises a diverse array of events, including poetry recitals, musical performances, dance showcases, and insightful discussions.

The inaugural ceremony, which commenced at 4pm, saw the presence of esteemed dignitaries. State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury graced the occasion as the chief guest, joined by Director General of Bangla Academy Kabi Muhammad Nurul Huda as the special guest, and Dr. Shahadat Hossain Nipu, the chief convener of the festival.

Kicking off with a captivating performance by Shilpobritti o Khelagar, a children's organisation, the ceremony followed with a collective musical presentation by Rishijo Shilpigosthi. The stage then witnessed mesmerising solo musical performances by Abu Bakar Siddique, Mahbub Riaz, and Abida Rahman Setu.

The event also featured a compelling group recitation by Shongbrita Abritti Chorcha o Bikash Kendro, followed by stirring solo recitations by Suborna Arifin, Rubina Azad, Liza Chowdhury, among others.

Scheduled to run until March 31, 2024, the festival promises to offer an enriching cultural experience for all attendees, celebrating the enduring spirit of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
