In a recent interview on The Knock Knock Show, accomplished Pakistani actor Mikaal Zulfiqar candidly discussed his experiences in Bollywood, shedding light on what he perceives as the exploitation of Pakistani actors.

Zulfiqar, known for his roles in both Pakistani and Indian productions, emphasized that Indian filmmakers often cast Pakistani actors in stereotypical roles, a practice he finds disheartening.

"India always takes advantage of Pakistani actors, either you are made to do something that shows you are a Pakistani or your role is portrayed in such a way," Zulfiqar stated, reflecting on his prior Bollywood engagements. He went on to express his desire for equal treatment, asserting that he would prefer to work in Pakistani films and shows if not accorded the same status as Indian actors, according to Hindustan Times.

Zulfiqar further remarked, "To be honest, I don't think they often offer very notable roles, speaking in terms of the last 10-20 years of my career. What happened before that, I cannot say. My reason for that is that I don't mind as long as it's on equal grounds and we are portrayed in the right manner.

It is what we deserve, to be placed on a level-playing field. Just to do a supporting role, or something that might be mocked in Pakistan, it is not worth it. So, when there is a level-playing field, then its fine, otherwise, we are content here."

Before the 2016 ban on Pakistani artistes in India, several Pakistani talents attained stardom in Bollywood, including notable figures such as singer Atif Aslam, and actors Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan, among others. Mikaal Zulfiqar himself has graced Hindi cinema with his presence, making his debut in the 2007 crime thriller "Godfather" alongside Vinod Khanna, followed by roles in "Shoot on Sight" (2008), Aron Govil's "U R My Jaan" (2011), and "Baby" (2015).

In his native Pakistan, Zulfiqar has made substantial contributions to the entertainment industry through acclaimed shows like "Pani Jaisa Piyar" and "Shehr-e-Zaat", as well as films including "Cake" (2018), "Na Band Na Baraati" (2018), and "Sherdil" (2019).
