BSA celebrates Bangabandhu's legacy thru month-long event

Throughout the month of August, the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) is organiaing a comprehensive event series “Shokaboho August” paying tribute to the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The series commenced on August 1 at the National Art Gallery-1 of the Shilpakala Academy, and it will continue until August 31, featuring a diverse array of artistic and cultural activities.

A prominent highlight of the event series is a special exhibition showcasing artworks and photographs dedicated to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. This exhibition will not only celebrate the artistic brilliance but also shed light on the inspiring life of Bangladesh's founding leader.

BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky inaugurated the month-long event on Thursday at the National Art Plaza.

In his speech, Liaquat Ali Lucky said, "Propaganda played a major role in the assassination of Bangabandhu in 1975. Not only in Bangladesh, the same propaganda still running in the world. This propaganda has been used is one of the weapons to snatch power. So on August 12, we will hold an Art Camp ‘Art Against Fake News’, against these rumors.”

BSA Fine Arts Department director Syeda Mahbuba Karim, BSA Secretary Salahuddin Ahmed, renowned art critic Moinuddin Khaled, and artist Kamal Pasha Chowdhury were present at the inaugural ceremony.

On August 5, an event titled "Tribute Through Art" will be held at the National Music and Dance Center, commemorating the memory of Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal.

The following day, August 6, a session titled "Tribute Through Art: Tagore and Bangabandhu" will be hosted at the National Music and Dance Center.

On August 15, the National Mourning Day will be observed with discussions and cultural event at the National Theatre. Floral tributes will also be offered at the portrait of Bangabandhu on Dhanmondi Road 32, honouring his memory.

Concluding the month-long event series, a special programme titled "Tribute Through Art: Nazrul and Bangabandhu" will be held at the National Music and Dance Center on August 29.

The closing ceremony of this event series will take place on August 31 at the National Music and Dance Center of BSA.
