Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) is set to launch the “Jatiya Pitha Utsab” across 64 districts of the country today.

The festival, organised by BSA, will span 11 days in Dhaka, while its 63 district branches will host three-day festivals.

In addition to showcasing traditional pithas, the event will include pitha-making competitions and cultural shows. The announcement was made during a press conference held on Monday at the BSA Seminar Hall, chaired by BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky and moderated by BSA Public Relations Officer Sabina Yesmin Puthi.

Liaquat Ali Lucky highlighted that the upcoming “Jatiya Pitha Utsab” aims to promote traditional pithas as Intangible Cultural Heritage and emphasize the geographical indication of local food items.

The inaugural ceremony is scheduled for today at the BSA in Dhaka. Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain will attend as the chief guest, with Cultural Affairs Secretary Khalil Ahmed as the special guest, and actor-director Ataur Rahman as the guest of honour. The program will be presided over by BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky.
