BSA marks tragedy of August 21 with art exhibition

In commemoration of the "Barbaric Tragedy of August 21," Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) organised a daylong program on Monday. The Academy's Nandan Mancha premises were adorned with exhibition about the barbaric memorial sacrifice with the Fine Arts division's management.

This event was inaugurated at 5:00 PM on Monday, where esteemed guests included K.M. Khalid (MP), and the renowned international artist Shahabuddin Ahmed. The event was hosted by Director-General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Liaquat Ali Lucky.

In his welcome address, Lucky expressed gratitude for the attendees and highlighted the significance of commemorating the horrific events of August 21, 2004, through artistic expression.

State Minister K.M. Khalid acknowledged the significance of exhibitions like these and emphasized that exhibitions like these should be organised in every district to bring awareness about the tragic events that occurred on August 21. He mentioned, "We must remember our history, as a crisis in civilization arises when a nation forgets its past."

The renowned artist Shahabuddin Ahmed also spoke at the event, praising the government's efforts to promote cultural development and remembering the sacrifices made during the Liberation War. He pointed out the importance of cultural preservation and condemned those who attempt to distort history.

The art exhibition showcased photographs and artworks that depicted the brutal tragedy of August 21, 2004. Journalists, artists, and the general public attended the exhibition, which will remain open from Monday to Wednesday from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

This event is part of BSA's annual initiatives to remember and reflect upon the tragic events of August 21, 2004. The Academy has been actively promoting various forms of art to raise awareness and encourage discussion on the importance of preserving historical events and cultural heritage.
