Celebrities buy AL nomination forms for reserved seats

Popular film actresses Apu Biswas, Nipun Akter, Sohana Saba, Meher Afroze Shaon, Urmila Srabonti Kar, Shahnoor and others have purchased Awami League nomination form for the reserved seats for women in the 12th Parliament.

The Awami League began selling nomination forms for Tk 50,000 each at 10 am on Tuesday. Some of the actresses appeared there before that.

Actress Sohana Saba bought the Awami League nomination form for the Dhaka Division around 10:30 in the morning. “My father was a freedom fighter. He was involved in Awami League politics throughout his life. He was a true patriot. Hence, I want to be an Awami League candidate,” said Saba.

Film actress Nipun Akhtar Who has previously been elected as the General Secretary of the Film Artists Association appeared at 11 am and bought the form. Nipun Akter collected the form for the Chattogram Division. She was accompanied by actor Riaz.

After buying the form, Nipun Aketr told to the media, “First of all, I want everyone's prayers. If the Prime Minister thinks me eligible, then she must consider it. I want the love that I have received from the nationals before.”

Actress Shahnoor came to the office and bought the form around 11 am. Then she told the media, “I am a member of a freedom fighter family. I have been associated with Bangabandhu Sanskarti Jote for a long time. I was also active in the field against the opposition party's terrorism and arson attack. I am also involved in social work. If Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina nominates me, I want to work according to her rules. I want to work for women.”

Actress Apu Biswas has already said that she wants to be an MP in a reserved seat. For that purpose, she bought the nomination form by 12:30 pm yesterday from the ruling party's central office in Gulistan. Apu bought the form for Rajshahi Division's Bogura zone.

“As I am an actress, I feel a strong connection with the people and want to work for the development of women. If I get the chance, I’ll work for the people," she said.

Actress Urmila Srabonti Kar bought the Awami League nomination form for Dhaka Division’s Tangail, while Meher Afroz shaon bought ticket for Mymensingh Division, Tanveen Sweety for Dhaka Division and Zakia Moon for Munshiganj.
